What was Proxycurl and why did it shut down?
Proxycurl was a LinkedIn data API that provided programmatic access to LinkedIn people profiles, company data, and job postings. It had approximately 200k customers and $10M ARR before shutting down. LinkedIn filed a lawsuit against Proxycurl in January 2025, and Proxycurl ceased operations in July 2025. Customers who relied on it for hiring signals, sales intelligence, and job data feeds are now migrating to alternative sources.
Proxycurl served multiple use cases:
- People profile enrichment - retrieving contact and career data from LinkedIn member profiles.
- Company data - firmographic data from LinkedIn company pages.
- Job posting data - LinkedIn job listings used as hiring signals for sales intelligence and recruitment automation. This is the use case Techmap directly addresses.
Techmap replaces the job posting layer only. For people profile enrichment and contact data, a dedicated contact enrichment provider is needed alongside Techmap.
Why Techmap covers the job data use case
If your Proxycurl integration used job postings as a hiring signal - to identify companies that are actively recruiting in specific roles, locations, or tech stacks - Techmap provides that data at greater scale and with deeper history than Proxycurl offered.
What Techmap replaces in the Proxycurl stack:
- LinkedIn job postings - ~1M per month from 166 countries, as one of Techmap's 127+ sources.
- Hiring signals - company name, job title, location, skills, and posting date for identifying actively recruiting companies.
- Broader job market context - 8.2M total postings from 250 countries, including non-LinkedIn postings from direct ATS career pages and other job boards.
- Historical hiring data - 405M+ postings from January 2020 for trend analysis across time.
What Techmap does not replace:
- LinkedIn member profile data (name, email, work history, skills, connections).
- Company firmographic data from LinkedIn company pages.
- Contact enrichment (email addresses, phone numbers).
