Import Techmap jobs into JobKit

JobKit does not import external feeds, but it has an API to create jobs: JobKit API - Create job (POST /jobs.json, Basic authentication). A small script that runs on a schedule reads postings from Techmap's Jobs API - filtered by country, city, occupation, skills, remote work and more - and creates them on your JobKit board.

Set it up in 3 steps

  1. Get a free API key for the Jobs API on RapidAPI: 1,000 job postings per month are free, paid plans cost about $1 per 1,000 job postings (paid plans from $29/month).
  2. Adapt the script below: your board URL, your JobKit login, the category and term IDs, and the search filters.
  3. Run it on a schedule - note: Job titles are limited to 64 characters; category, term, location, arrangement and application type are required.
// Node.js 18+ - run on a schedule, e.g. once a day
const RAPIDAPI_KEY = process.env.RAPIDAPI_KEY
const BOARD = "https://YOUR-BOARD.jobkit.io"
const AUTH = "Basic " + Buffer.from(process.env.JOBKIT_EMAIL + ":" + process.env.JOBKIT_PASSWORD).toString("base64")

const res = await fetch("https://daily-international-job-postings.p.rapidapi.com/api/v2/jobs/search?countryCode=us&occupation=programmer", {
  headers: { "X-RapidAPI-Key": RAPIDAPI_KEY, "X-RapidAPI-Host": "daily-international-job-postings.p.rapidapi.com" },
})
const { result } = await res.json()

for (const job of result) {
  const place = (job.workPlace || "").toLowerCase()
  await fetch(BOARD + "/jobs.json", {
    method: "POST",
    headers: { Authorization: AUTH, "Content-Type": "application/json" },
    body: JSON.stringify({
      title: job.title.slice(0, 64),             // JobKit allows 64 characters
      description: job.jsonLD?.description,
      location: [job.city, job.countryCode?.toUpperCase()].filter(Boolean).join(", "),
      arrangement: ["remote", "hybrid"].includes(place) ? place : "onsite",
      company: job.company,
      application_type: "url",
      application_url: job.jsonLD?.url,
      category_id: 1,                            // your JobKit category ID
      term_id: 1,                                // your JobKit term ID (e.g. full-time)
    }),
  })
}

To avoid duplicates, remember which postings you already created (e.g. by their URL) and add dateCreated to the search to fetch only new postings.

Tip: Run the script below on a schedule (e.g. a daily cron job or a serverless function) to add new jobs automatically.
